IQST Visit and Colloquium Bring the Community Together at KIT
On 28 July 2026, IQST hosted its latest Visit and Colloquium at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The event offered participants a full day of scientific exchange, networking, and the opportunity to explore KIT’s quantum research activities as IQST’s newest partner institution.
The day began with the IQST Visit, where participants explored KIT’s quantum research environment through guided laboratory tours and an overview of the institute’s activities presented by Prof. David Hunger. Across two tour sessions, visitors had the opportunity to discover research carried out in the Wernsdorfer, Ustinov, Willke, Pop, and Hunger research groups, gaining first-hand insights into topics ranging from molecular spin qubits and superconducting quantum circuits to spin-photon interfaces and single-atom spin control. A networking lunch provided further opportunities for discussion and exchange.
The afternoon continued with the IQST Colloquium. The programme opened with an early-career researcher presentation by Dr. Andrei Pavlov (KIT), who spoke on Topological Transitions in Quantum Jump Dynamics: Hidden Exceptional Points.
The invited talk was delivered by Prof. Ioan Pop (KIT), who presented Quantum Coherent Superconducting Vortex States. His presentation highlighted recent advances in superconducting quantum devices and sparked lively discussions that continued during the networking reception over coffee.
The event brought together researchers from across Baden-Württemberg’s vibrant quantum ecosystem, fostering scientific exchange, strengthening collaborations, and creating new opportunities for interaction across institutions.
