IQST Connects Students and Early-Career Researchers in Tübingen
More than 25 students and early-career researchers came together on 22 September 2026 for an IQST Visit, offering participants the opportunity to explore quantum research at the University of Tübingen, exchange ideas, and connect with researchers from across the Baden-Württemberg quantum community.
The programme opened with a welcome by IQST Fellow Prof. Dr. Igor Lesanovsky, followed by three talks showcasing different areas of quantum research. Milena Djatchkova from the group of Prof. Dr. Beatriz Olmos Sanchez presented “Coherent Control of Subradiant Excitations in Atomic Rings”. Xintong Su from the group of IQST Fellow Prof. Dr. Christian Groß introduced “A Cryogenic Strontium Quantum Processor”, while Gustavo de Franca from the group of Prof. Dr. Sebastian Slama presented “Dicke Ising Physics in a Cavity QED System”.
After lunch and networking, participants got a closer look at experimental quantum research during laboratory tours focusing on atomic quantum computing and Rydberg many-body physics and many-body cavity QED. The tours provided an opportunity to see the experimental setups behind the research and discuss ongoing work directly with researchers.
The visit was part of the early-career training activities of the IQST Graduate School @QuantumBW, funded by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-Württemberg. These training activities are open to students and early-career researchers across the Baden-Württemberg quantum ecosystem, providing opportunities to explore different research environments, broaden scientific perspectives, and build connections beyond their own institutions.
IQST would like to thank the speakers, laboratory teams, and everyone who took part in the visit. A special thanks goes to Sebastian Walch, PhD student of the IQST Graduate School @QuantumBW, for the local organisation of the event.
