The executive board of IQST provides leadership for all future developments of IQST including long-term funding, the research focus areas, collaborations and events. The board also evaluates applications for new fellows, the graduate school, the young researcher program and the post-doc fellowship program. They are also coordinating several major EU projects (SIQS, RySQ, Hyperdiamond), a priority program of the German Research Foundation (GiRyd) and the SFB/TRR21 (Control of Quantum Correlations in Tailored Matter). The director, Prof. Dr. Tommaso Calarco (University Ulm) and co-director (Prof. Dr. Tilman Pfau, University of Stuttgart) of the board work closely with the managing team to ensure that there is close communication between the fellows, young researchers and students of the participating institutes and across the various campuses.
Prof. Dr. Tommaso Calarco, Director IQST
... is developing controlling techniques for many- body problems and wishes, by this means, to make quantum technologies more efficient.
Prof. Dr. Tilman Pfau, Co-Director IQST
University of Stuttgart
... is researching the interaction of atoms in ultracold quantum gases, in order to generate new states of matter under controlled conditions.
Prof. Dr. Fedor Jelezko
... is researching the application of diamond quantum sensors which, as highly sensitive quantum microscopes, can make the structures and functions of individual biomolecules visible.
Prof. Dr. Bernhard Keimer
Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research, Stuttgart
... is exploring the technical application potential of materials which, owing to the quantum nature of their particles, exhibit exceptional magnetic properties.
Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schleich
... is concerned with questions of quantum mechanics and quantum optics where they overlap with gravitation and number theory.
